Brokk Grungsson

Brokk Grungsson is what the Kharadron Code looks like when it works exactly as advertised. He rose through Barak-Nar's fleets on nerve, acumen, and an uncanny instinct for being wherever the profit ran thickest, and he kept rising until the Code itself ran out of ranks to give him. Lord-Magnate is a station that must, by artycle and amendment, be earned in achievement and hard currency, and Grungsson earned it outright, becoming by his own cheerful admission the richest duardin ever to leave the ground.

He goes to war in a dirigible suit that is less armour than personal flagship: a masterwork endrinharness fitted out by Barak-Nar's finest guildsmen with enough firepower to embarrass a frigate. In it he has run down sky-leviathans for sport, crashed boarding actions like a one-duardin fleet, and personally settled accounts with warlords who mistook merchants for prey. Grungsson leads from the front for the oldest Barak-Nar reason there is: visibility is advertising.

His critics (and no duardin becomes that rich without acquiring a diversified portfolio of them) call him vainglorious, reckless, and altogether too fond of his own legend. Grungsson agrees on every count and directs their attention to the ledger. To the young arkanauts of the sky-ports he is the promise the Code makes in person: that any deckhand with enough daring might end up rich, famous, and very far above the wreckage of their enemies.
