Kurdoss Valentian

Kurdoss Valentian was born far from a throne and spent his mortal life clawing toward one. Brothers, rivals, inconvenient heirs: he removed them all with poison, blade, and lie, telling himself with each murder that the crown would justify the climbing. He reached it. He knelt at his own coronation, felt the crown's shadow touch his brow, and died in that instant, cut down before the metal could. The last thought of his life was that it wasn't fair, and Nagash, who was listening, built his eternity out of exactly that.

Now Kurdoss sits a floating throne of black stone at Lady Olynder's side, mighty beyond anything his living self dreamed. The Sepulchral Sceptre in his fists strikes with the weight of a falling keep; kings and warlords are shattered by it like crockery. And above his head, always, two wraith-heralds bear his crown, holding it eternally aloft, eternally descending, never to touch. He has been granted every substance of kingship and denied only the word, wedded to a queen who never loved as he is bound to a title he never held. Nagash's court has no crueler joke, and both halves of it know they are the punchline.

What remains of Kurdoss's will has curdled into a single obsession: no one else may rule in his sight. He silences monarchs mid-decree and crushes generals mid-order, visiting on every claimant of authority the denial that defines him. His heralds whisper mockeries only he can hear, and warriors who face him swear the Craven King never once looks at his enemy: his burning gaze stays fixed, always, an inch above his own head.
