The Thunderpistols

Forged in the sky-holds where the duardin trap the fury of Azyr's tempests, the Thunderpistols are a matched pair of firearms unlike any other in the realms. They carry no powder and no ball; instead their chambers hold a slumbering bolt of caged lightning, and when the triggers fall the storm leaps forth in a crack of white fire that leaves the air burnt and ringing.

The gunmasters of the Cities of Sigmar hold the pistols as heirlooms of the highest honour, passed down through gun-lines that trace their descent to the sky-holds of the Age of Myth. In skilled hands the weapons never miss, for the lightning seeks its mark as it seeks the tallest tree, arcing round shields and cover to find the beating heart of the foe.

But a caged storm is a restless prisoner. The pistols must be discharged before their fury builds too high, and gunmasters tell grim tales of the careless bearer who held his fire one heartbeat too long and was consumed in the blast he meant to loose. To carry the Thunderpistols is to walk always one trigger-pull ahead of the lightning within them, master and captive both, until the storm at last finds a moment's inattention and takes its due.
