Khinerai Heartrenders

Heartrenders attack the way a storm-gust slams a shutter: a shriek of wind, a fall of shadow, barbed javelins hammering down, and then empty sky. They descend from cloud or darkness onto war-machines, messengers, and commanders (the soft, vital organs of an army) and climb away on the thermals before any answer can be organized. Fighting them has been compared to fencing with the weather.

Like their Melusai sisters, the Khinerai are Scáthborn, shaped by Morathi from souls reclaimed out of Slaanesh's hoard, though where the serpent-women received coils, the Khinerai received the sky. Flight sits in them like the memory of something better; it is said they laugh only when falling. They tithe a portion of every raid's plunder back to the temples, payment on a debt they cannot name for a rescue they were never told about.
