The Cult of Morr

The Cult of Morr tends the boundary between the living and the dead across the Empire of Man and the southern realms alike. Morr is the god of death, dreams, and the peaceful rest of the departed, and his black-robed priests are a familiar if unsettling sight, presiding over funerals and keeping watch over the walled cemeteries known as the Gardens of Morr.

The cult's creed is one of solemn duty rather than fear. Death, the priests teach, is not an ending to be dreaded but a threshold to be honoured, and Morr grants rest to those whose bodies are properly given over to his care. It is precisely because they revere true death that the priests of Morr hold an especial hatred for the walking corpses and restless spirits raised by the necromancers who serve the Vampire Counts. To them, undeath is the vilest blasphemy imaginable.

Thus the mourners double as guardians, and the raven-priests of Morr will take up blade and holy symbol to lay the risen dead back in their graves. Their temples interpret dreams and omens, for Morr rules the realm of sleep as well as death, and prophetic visions are counted among his gifts. In a land forever shadowed by the grave, the quiet vigil of Morr's servants is a bulwark against terrors that would otherwise never rest.
