Dwarfs

The Dwarfs are an ancient and unyielding race, mountain-dwellers whose civilisation once ran in a mighty chain of holds along the Worlds Edge Mountains. Master smiths and miners without equal, they raised halls of stone and gold that were the wonder of the age, and their runesmiths bound magic into steel with an artistry no other people have matched. But that golden age is long past.

Earthquakes, volcanic ruin and the relentless assaults of greenskins and skaven have toppled hold after hold, and the Dwarfen Mountain Holds that remain are grim, dwindling bastions besieged on every side. Every wrong done to their people is inscribed in the great Book of Grudges, and no dwarf forgets a debt of blood or gold, though a hundred generations pass before it is repaid in full.

Stubborn beyond reason and slow to trust, dwarfs value oaths, ale, gold and vengeance above all else. Their warriors march to war in gromril armour, shields locked, muttering of grudges yet unsettled, while their engineers unleash cannon and gyrocopter upon the foe. They know their race is fading, that each fallen hold is unlikely ever to be reclaimed, yet they endure with iron resolve, determined to sell their long twilight dearly and settle every last grudge before the end.
