The Eagle Claw repeater bolt thrower is asur engineering at its most characteristic: light enough for a tower platform or a warship's castle, swift to crank, and lethal in two registers. Against massed ranks its magazine ripples out flights of slender bolts that stitch through whole files of infantry; against monsters and armoured knights it looses a single great shaft that pins rider to mount and both to the earth. Two crew suffice to work it, and Sea Guard gunners boast they can dismast a druchii corsair at extreme range in a rolling swell.

The asur build machines the way they do everything: to spend mechanism instead of blood. Eagle Claws stand watch on the walls of Lothern and the cliff-towers facing Naggaroth for centuries at a stretch, maintained like heirlooms, some bearing kill-tallies older than the human kingdoms they occasionally defend. For a dwindling people, an engine that lets two soldiers do the work of a company is not artillery doctrine but survival: one more way to make too few hands hold too long a wall.
