Bow of Loren

There are no finer archers in all the Old World than the Wood Elves of Athel Loren, and in their hands rests the Bow of Loren, a longbow of such quality that the archers of other races can scarcely believe the feats it performs. Grown and shaped from the living wood of the enchanted forest, strung with cord spun from spider-silk and enchanted sinew, each bow is a thing half-crafted and half-cultivated, bound to the will of its bearer.

The Wood Elf Realms send their Glade Guard to war armed with these bows, and the storm of arrows they unleash is a thing of legend. A Wood Elf archer can loose shaft after shaft in the time a man might nock a single arrow, and each finds its mark with uncanny precision, threading the eye-slit of a helm or the gap in a suit of plate across the length of a glade. Whole warbands have been cut down before they ever laid eyes upon their attackers, so deadly is the hail from the treeline.

The elves loose their arrows from the shadows of the wood, melting away before the enemy can close, only to strike again from a new quarter. To pursue them into Athel Loren is folly, for there the forest itself takes up the hunt. The Bow of Loren is the perfect expression of the Wood Elves' way of war: patient, unseen, and utterly lethal, a promise that no foe who trespasses upon their realm will leave it alive.
