Hive Fleet Behemoth

Hive Fleet Behemoth was the first of the great swarms to breach the galactic rim, the herald-fleet whose coming taught the Imperium the name of its newest nightmare. From the yawning dark beyond the eastern fringe it came, a bio-mechanical armada of untold hive ships, drone vessels, and living kraken, drawn by the faint psychic beacon of a galaxy teeming with life.

The Tyranids of Behemoth carved a path of extinction through the Ultima Segmentum, consuming entire star systems and rendering worlds to barren rock. World after world fell silent as the swarm stripped them of every living thing, reprocessing flesh and bone into fresh spawn. The Imperium mustered its strength too slowly, and only at Macragge did the tide finally break against the resolve of the Space Marines.

Though Behemoth was ultimately shattered, its destruction cost the Imperium beyond measure, and the survivors understood a darker truth. This had been but a scouting tendril, a single questing arm of an entity vast beyond comprehension. The main body of the Great Devourer still lurked in the intergalactic void, and Behemoth's coming was merely the first drop of an ocean of hunger that would one day threaten to swallow the galaxy whole.
