Lychguard

The Lychguard are the elite bodyguards of the Necron nobility, silent and unyielding automatons forged to protect the overlords and phaerons who rule the dynasties of the ancient star-empire. Larger and more resilient than common warriors, their metal bodies are wrought with cold, regal artistry, standing as living statues of loyalty rendered in living metal.

Once, in the time before the great biotransference, the Lychguard were the most honoured warriors of their lords, sworn to defend them unto death. Now, their flesh long stripped away and their souls poured into undying machine forms, that oath endures as unbreakable programming. They stand vigil at their masters' sides, wielding warscythes that shear through any armour and dispersion shields that turn aside incoming fire, or great sword-and-shield combinations that reflect enemy blasts back upon the foe.

Among the reawakening legions of the Necrons, the Lychguard embody duty made eternal. Tireless and utterly without fear, they will cut down any who dare approach their charge, an impenetrable wall of ancient metal standing between the god-kings of the tombs and all who would do them harm.
