Warp Talons

Warp Talons are Raptors who have fallen further still, their souls devoured so thoroughly by the Immaterium that little of the warrior remains beneath the daemon. Once assault Astartes like their Raptor kin, they have surrendered thought, speech, and reason alike, degenerating into savage predators that live only for the hunt and the kill that ends it. Where a Raptor merely apes the manner of a bird of prey, a Warp Talon has become one in truth, a creature of the Warp wearing the shape of a warrior.

Their most feared gift is the power to walk between worlds. A pack of Warp Talons can plunge into the Immaterium and stalk their prey through it unseen, sensing their victims by the fear and hatred that bleeds off mortal souls into the Warp. When at last they strike, they burst back into reality directly amid their chosen quarry, erupting from nothingness in a blaze of warp-fire like nightmares given sudden flesh. In place of hands and feet each bears crackling lightning claws, blades so keen they can sever the very substance of reality itself.

There is no reasoning with such creatures, and no true commanding of them either. A Champion of Chaos does not so much deploy his Warp Talons as loose them, setting them upon a target and trusting to their bottomless hunger to do the rest. To fix them upon their prey, their handlers give them some token of the intended victim, a lock of hair, a stolen trinket, a fragment of bone, and the Talons need nothing more. Once the scent of a soul is set in their minds, no distance and no barrier of reality can keep them from the slaughter.
