The Legion Assault Squad delivered the Ultramarines' answer to any foe that thought distance a defence. Borne aloft on screaming jump packs and armed with chainblades and bolt pistols, these warriors crossed broken ground and enemy fire alike to fall upon a wavering line before it could brace. In a Legion famed for its patience and measured method, the Assault Squads were the sudden closing of the fist, committed only when the wider battle plan called for a swift and violent decision. Their sergeants were schooled to read the flow of combat as keenly as any Locutarus veteran, striking where a breakthrough would unravel the most. Against the traitors, that aggression took on a bitter edge, for the brothers they now cut down had once drilled beside them in the same practice cages of Macragge.
