Red Butchers

The Red Butchers are what the World Eaters become when even their own Legion can no longer contain them, warriors whose Butcher's Nails have driven them so far past reason that they must be chained between battles and loosed only at the enemy. Encased in Terminator plate, denied even the small mercy of a quick death in combat, they are living weapons in the most literal sense, kept alive because their capacity for slaughter is too valuable to waste. In battle they are unleashed like hounds slipped from the leash, wading into the thickest press of the enemy and killing until nothing living remains within reach of their weapons. Their brothers regard them with a mixture of reverence and dread, for every World Eater knows the Red Butchers are simply what waits at the end of the road they all walk, the Nails' final promise made flesh and clad in blood-slicked iron.
