Legion Outrider Squad

Mounted on swift attack bikes, the Legion Outrider Squad gave the Raven Guard the roving eyes and lightning bite that their war of shadows demanded. Ranging far ahead of the main force, Outriders scouted an enemy's positions, harried his outriders and pickets, and screened the approach of the infiltrators who would deliver the killing blow. When battle was joined they raced along the enemy's flanks, loosing twin bolter fire into exposed formations before wheeling away long before a return volley could find them. The XIX had no taste for the grinding attrition other Legions embraced; theirs was a war of speed and misdirection, and the Outriders were among its purest expressions, appearing where they were least expected and gone before the foe could bring his strength to bear. In the desperate months after Isstvan V, their mobility let the Legion's scattered survivors sting a triumphant enemy and vanish, keeping the Raven Guard's war alive when open battle would have meant annihilation.
