To a Legion that fought as an anvil rather than a hammer, such a machine was beyond price: a tireless sentinel that could anchor a battle-line for hours, sweeping the skies clear and grinding down whatever the enemy threw against the mortals sheltering behind it. The artificers of Nocturne tended each Deredeo as both weapon and reliquary, honouring the venerable mind within as an elder whose wisdom guided every shot. In the war-torn years after Isstvan V, when the XVIII counted their every survivor, these ancients became irreplaceable guardians of a Legion that refused to die.
