Tyrannocyte

The Tyrannocyte is the swarm's answer to the drop-pod, a vast living spore grown to fall from a hive fleet's orbiting bio-ships and slam down amid the enemy, spilling a payload of hungry organisms directly into the fray. Its bulbous, armoured body absorbs the violence of re-entry and impact, and upon landing it splits open to disgorge whatever brood the Hive Mind has entrusted to it, from warrior-broods to hulking monsters.

Far from inert once emptied, the Tyrannocyte anchors itself and continues to fight, lashing out with tentacles and unleashing clusters of living bio-weapons at nearby foes, a fortress of flesh guarding the beachhead it has just created. For the Tyranids, it collapses the distance between the void and the ground, letting the Great Devourer strike at command posts, artillery, and reserves that imagined themselves safely behind the lines. Where a Tyrannocyte falls, the front line ceases to have any meaning.
