Marrowscroll Herald

The Marrowscroll Herald is the voice of the royal court, a ghoul noble charged with proclaiming the mad decrees of his Abhorrant king to the ravening horde. Bearing aloft a marrowscroll (a grisly banner of stretched hide and knotted bone that the Delusion renders, in ghoulish eyes, into an illuminated proclamation of the realm), the Herald shrieks out the king's commands and the imagined honours of the court. To the deluded ghouls of the Flesh-eater Courts these pronouncements are sacred writ, and the Herald's cries stir them to zealous devotion, driving them forward with promises of glory and a place at the eternal feast. In battle he ranges behind the front ranks, his keening voice carrying above the din, bolstering the courage of the horde and hurling the court's champions into the fray with fresh fervour. Part propagandist and part priest, the Marrowscroll Herald ensures the shared madness never falters and that every ghoul believes, to the last, that it dies a noble knight.
