Cohors Nasicae

The roots of the Cohors Nasicae reach back to the black sands of Isstvan III, where the warriors of Squad Nasicae fought at the side of the swordsman Lucius during the reconquest that followed the Legion's betrayal. In time they became his chosen bodyguard, and then his own warband, following him down the long millennia of his cursed immortality. From their vessel, the Diadem, they range across the galaxy in service to a lord who cannot truly die.

The Cohors is a fickle and fractious thing, its membership rising and falling as squads coalesce and shatter at a whim, its strength bolstered by a Raptor Cult known as the Rypax and a network of adoring torture-cultists who scour the stars for worthy prey. For Lucius seeks always the deadliest opponent, the duellist skilled enough to test him, and drives his warband to whatever war promises such a foe. When a run of reversals reduced the Cohors to a mere handful of surviving Astartes, Lucius was forced to treat with the Chief Apothecary Fabius Bile to replenish his depleted host, and in doing so folded his warriors into a greater coalition known as the Faultless. Yet the Cohors Nasicae endures as it always has, an extension of one man's endless, exquisite cruelty.
