Servitors

The Servitors of the Grey Knights are cybernetic thralls, their fragile humanity long since burned away and replaced with hard-wired obedience. Fashioned from mind-scrubbed bodies bound to cortical implants, they perform the tireless labour that keeps a strike force in the field, hauling munitions, tending machinery, and bearing heavy weapons too cumbersome for a knight on the move. In a Chapter cloaked in absolute secrecy, the servitor holds a further and grimmer value, for a creature stripped of memory and will may witness the Chapter's hidden wars and carry nothing away, its lobotomised mind incapable of betraying what it has seen. Under the direction of a Techmarine they operate weapon platforms and repair engines with rote precision, never questioning, never faltering, never afraid. Some brotherhoods, most notably the Rapiers, march ranks of servitors ahead of their precious brethren, spending the expendable thralls to blunt an enemy charge or soak up its fury while the true knights strike at the vital heart of the foe. It is a doctrine of cold economy, fitting for a Chapter that can never easily replace its fallen.
