Legion Tactical Squad

A Legion Tactical Squad of the Night Lords fought much as any other, with bolter and blade and the disciplined cohesion of the Legiones Astartes, yet even the Eighth's line troops carried the character of their terrible Legion. They advanced into ground already softened by fear, exploiting the panic their terror specialists had sown and turning a demoralised enemy's collapse into slaughter.

These squads were the substance of the Legion behind its reputation, the warriors who held captured ground and ground down whatever resistance the Legion's darker arts had failed to break. They took to atrocity readily enough when it served, for the Eighth drew no clean line between its terror-troops and its line companies. In the Heresy they were the body of a Legion whose soul was fear, pressing the Warmaster's war across worlds already half-broken by dread.
