Blood Claws

Every Space Wolf begins his service among the Blood Claws, the packs into which the Chapter's newest warriors are gathered once they have survived their transformation. Fierce, impatient and brimming with the fire of youth, a Blood Claw burns to prove himself and to win the respect of his elders, and he will seize upon almost any risk if it promises the fleeting glory that only the young and the bold pursue.

A pack numbers anywhere from a handful to more than a dozen brothers, and the bonds forged between them are meant to endure until death breaks the pack apart. Because their eagerness so easily tips into recklessness, Blood Claws are placed under the command of a seasoned warrior, a Grey Hunter or a member of the Wolf Guard, whose task is to blunt the worst of their folly, keep them alive long enough to learn wisdom, and mark out those among them who show the promise of greater things.

In the charge the Blood Claws are a howling storm of chainblades and bolt pistols, throwing themselves headlong into the enemy with a courage that borders on madness. Those who master their impatience are in time recognised as Grey Hunters and take their place among the dependable core of the Chapter, while some, too wild to settle, are set instead upon jetbikes or given jump packs to ride their fury into the sky, their tribal pack-markings carried proudly through every stage of the long road to maturity.
