Aberrants

Aberrants are the accidents of the cult's bloodline, hybrids whose gestation went awry and produced grotesque, oversized creatures of limited intellect. Where a neophyte can pass for human and an acolyte serves as a zealous warrior, the aberrant is a thing apart, too twisted for any life but war. The cult shelters and directs these brutes, seeing in their deformity a savage utility.

The defining trait of the aberrant is its sheer resilience. Their nervous systems are so degraded that pain barely registers, and their thickened frames shrug off wounds that would fell lesser warriors. This makes them appallingly hard to stop, for they trudge onward through fire and blade until their bodies are physically destroyed. In their gnarled hands they carry massive tools of industry, power hammers and rock-cutting picks, that they swing with bone-shattering force.

In the uprising, aberrants are unleashed against the foe's elite, the armoured warriors and heavy infantry that ordinary cultists cannot overcome. They are shepherded into battle by hybrids who focus their dim aggression, pointing them toward the enemy and letting slip a tide of hammering, tireless violence. Slow but nearly unstoppable, they are the brood's answer to any wall that must be broken.
